Description
OK so I’m not a silver expert but I present to you what I believe are a pair of 916 silver table spoons made by Dionisio Garcia Gomez of Madrid sometime between about 1910 and 1934 (see photo 8)There is not a great deal of information available on Spanish silver hallmarks but what I have found I have shown to you in the last 4 photos.
The shield in olive leaf crown apparently indicates 916 silver (see photo 7)
The LBB appears to be the assayers initials (see photo 7) and I have shown photos (9 & 10) other silverware with this same mark.
As to the spoons themselves they are in pretty good condition with just a small amount of tarnishing, which can of course be polished off if desired. Both spoons have a monogram which appears to me to be the initials WR or RW (judge for yourself)
Both spoons have abrasion marks and acid testing spots underneath the end of the handle where someone has previously tried to determine if they are silver (see photo 4)
Please look carefully at the photos and do your own research / due diligence to determine the veracity of my findings before bidding on these spoons.
